american idol Thia Megia and Casey Abrams dropped into the bottom three with Stefano Langone. Megia was sent back to the safe zone, it came down to two and Ryan announced Casey he had been voted out. In an attempt to save himself he began singing his audition song "I Don't Need No Doctor." but Randy Jackson stopped him and the panel voted to save him!
After host Ryan Seacrest told him he was voted off, Abrams was given the same chance as all other jettisoned contestants to sing a minute or so of a final song. That's the "Idol" equivalent of the condemned prisoner getting to choose a last meal, and it usually has about the same impact on the outcome.
Abrams only got a couple of lines into "I Don't Need No Doctor," though, when Jackson started waving his arms in a gesture that clearly said, dawg, don't bother.
Steven Tyler threw "American Idol" fans a fat carrot Wednesday night, declaring that if contestant James Durbin makes it to the finals, Steven will come on stage and sing an Aerosmith song with him.
